Our beautifully maintained lot is a striking reminder of its rich history – a century of cinematic firsts that began with one man’s dream in 1928.
How it started
The FOX Studio Lot, historically known as Movietone City, was the first purpose-built facility designed exclusively for motion picture production. When it opened in October 1928, it was described as “a small city,” and celebrated as the newest and most advanced studio complex of its time.
NY in LA
Designed by Academy Award-winning production designer John DeCuir for the 1968 classic Hello, Dolly!, this iconic New York streetscape has been a cornerstone of the Fox Lot for decades. Reimagined in 2023, NY Street combines timeless architecture with modern flexibility and continues to host productions across film, television, commercials, and music videos.
Today
The lot now spans more than 2 million square feet of production support and headquarters space, including stages, theatres, editing bays, dressing rooms, and administrative offices that continue to serve film and television productions of every scale.
